Project Parameters: Remodel a storefront in Ames, Iowa to create a welcoming atmosphere for college students. Assign roles and work with a colleague to accomplish the fresh, new restaurant design. Design Concept: Odette is the name of the newly remodeled space and its name is derived from the French word meaning rich. Variety is achieved in the restaurant through its effortless space plan so college students can enjoy a cute, cup of joe or celebrate passing an exam with a glass of champagne at the bar! The French restaurant follows a color palette of pale greens and muted pinks that are complimented by natural cream stones, bright whites, and brass finishes. Plenty of fresh, floral arrangements fill the restaurant, so elegant, stress-free, study spaces are encouraged. Odette creates ease for all demographics of college students, by being ADA-compliant with accessible restrooms and dining areas. CAD drawings, 3D printed scaled model, and finishes were accomplished by Madison McNeal.
